Why Cantoria?
The Moorish town of Cantoria is situated in the Almeria province, approximately 11km south of Albox. Cantoria offers a wide range of amenities including town hall, post office, shops, banks, bars, restaurants, and a B&B. There are schools for children of all ages and a 24 hour medical centre. The nearest hospital is approximately 34km away. Sports facilities include a swimming pool, basketball court and a football pitch. So what’s the big draw?
This small town is very charming for its layout, the hiking area, the history and the gastronomy.
What do people love about it?
The simple life you can have there but also enjoy the local “Fiestas” and concerts that they have throughout the year.

There isn't as much for children events and other towns are much further away.

The most popular bar/restaurant that every local goes to nearly regularly is Cafe Bar Yedra where people go to have dinner, go out for tapas with friends during the day.
For a night atmosphere El Piano is a great option for music, darts, pool, table football, etc. with friends.
Schools and supermarkets?
-Schools: one primary school (CEIP Cerro Castillo), a secondary school (IES Valle de Almanzora) and an adult school (El Cantar Del Río). All public schools are in the center of the town.
-Supermarkets: there are two Día supermarkets and another two smaller grocery stores under the names of Adams and Fas.

An important chapter of Cantoria's history was the Moorish uprising (1569-1571), according to historians, Cantoria was one of the key scenarios of the contest that faced two proper names: Jerónimo el Maleh and Don Juan de Austria, who chose Cantoria to install your campaign camp.
Finally, the current settlement was made between 1570 and 1573, although it was not until November 30, 1833, that Cantoria was constituted as an Almeria municipality when the province of Almería was created again by Don Francisco Javier de Burgos.
